Camano Action for a Rural Environment's Mission
  • Protect our water
  • Promote responsible development
  • Encourage good stewardship and sustainability
  • Promote the integrity of our natural habitats and shorelines
Camano is a special place and we have to work to preserve it.

Camano Action for a Rural Environment (CARE) is a 501c3 non-profit all volunteer organization of people who want to preserve the rural character of our Island so that the natural landscapes, vegetation and wildlife predominate over the built environment.  We appreciate Camano’s wonderful views, birds, trees and fields of the rural environment as well as the shorelines and nearshore environment that are so important to the whole of Puget Sound and Salish Sea. We want these natural characteristics of Camano Island to be preserved for future generations.  CARE educates the community about the limitations of our sole source aquifer and ways we can protect surface water, ground water, and shorelines from contamination.  Find more at CamanoCare.org.
A Taste of Camano 2010 on Feb. 27 is a fundraising event for CARE: a winter taste of local foods, wines, coffee, and other specialty treats prepared by local chefs. Please support these vendors.
